ALICE & CHARLIE | NEWBURGH PRIORY WEDDING

When Alice and Charlie first got in touch with us about their Newburgh Priory wedding in York, We were so excited – they were planning such a fun and laid back wedding with a humanist ceremony, a live band and even gospel singers throughout the ceremony/reception. Alice and Charlie are the loveliest people and we couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

Annie started shooting at Alice’s parents house, where she was getting ready with her parents and bridesmaids, Alice didn’t seem nervous at all, just super excited! Check out her Desmond & Dempsey PJ’s too, they’re divine! Chris went to Charlie in the morning and captured him and his brother which was also super chilled out! Alice wore Bukowski by Laure de Sagazan (from The Mews Bridal in Notting Hill) and Charlie wore French Connection and they looked incredible. Alice’s Dad drove himself and Alice to the wedding in his sports car which was such a nice personal touch to the day.

Wedding details

The wedding took place at Newburgh Priory, with a beautiful humanist ceremony conducted by Louisa Starr. They had some beautiful readings, which the guests absolutely loved. Louisa was amazing and the gospel choir were such a great addition to the ceremony. After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together and were showered with colourful confetti. Alice and Charlie mingled with their guests having drinks and canapés before having a few family photos. The rain started to pour down as we took some portraits of them and so umbrellas were needed and everyone took cover in the marquee and priory, it lasted till the end of the reception! The speeches were SO good and Charlie even ended up doing some singing with the band, which made some guests come up and dance and made for some great photos. We took Alice and Charlie again for some photos in hope that we might get some nicer weather and a beautiful sky instead of rain. The sun eventually did come out and it made for some beautiful light in the evening. The band then started and got party in full swing, and literally everyone was on the dance floor!
