To have the opportunity to photograph a Hazel Gap Barn wedding genuinely is one of the best bits of our job. Set not far from the beautiful Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, this beautifully restored farm provides the most perfect of places to get married. Kat & Lee thought so too, choosing to get married here last summer with all of their nearest and dearest, They both chose to get married at a rented farmhouse nearby, in the same building but on different floors! With some finishing touches still to be made at the venue, Lee made his way there leaving Kat & her bridesmaids to make sure they were looking amazing.
The ceremony itself was held at Hazel Gap Barn, complete with rustic walls pooled with natural light beaming in from the centre of the room. Huge floral decorations hung from the ceiling, courtesy of All Bunched Up really set the scene and made the room feel their own. The reception then followed allowing the couple to say hello to everyone that had come, including family from both Sheffield & China.
One of the most memorable part of the day for us was the Chinese tea ceremony, in which Kat & Lee received gifts from members of the family in lucky red envelopes. They share a cup of tea and take advice from those already married themselves.We then took the couple away (just for a short while!) for some photos just of the two of them. They were at complete ease with each other and made our job incredibly easy. Some of the door frames & bushes outside provided stark contrast against the bright sunshine and blue sky, with pools of light allowing for shots elsewhere.
Speeches then followed, laughter & beautiful words aplenty and some of the finest food you could ask for. After noticing some beautiful light falling through the trees behind the venue, we ask the couple for an extra 10 minutes just to capture them in this beautiful part of the day. I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re pretty special and made for some gorgeous photographs without the commotion inside.
Their first dance was incredible, with Kat changing into something a little more fluid and them both performing the dance from Dirty Dancing! It was pretty amazing! Dancing ensued well into the night, before we made our way home. This truly was a beautiful wedding!
