Laura & Ryan | Swallows Nest Barn
Laura and Ryan contacted us about their beautiful Swallows Nest Barn wedding after seeing another that we had shot there the year before. Their plans were for a really relaxed wedding with their closest friends and family and of course their gorgeous son! We couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding as they are really lovely people and we love Swallows Nest Barn!
Laura got ready at Swallows Nest Barn itself in their bridal room, which is great on a morning as it means no stress and walking only a few metres to get married! Ryan got ready at their family home, with his groomsmen and arrived in style in a stylish VW Camper van. Their son Arlo came suited a booted ready for the big party and one of his toys also made an appearance in the ring shots! We absolutely loved Laura’s grandads reaction to seeing her in the morning, it was so heartwarming and a pleasure to shoot. Laura wore Mikellabridal as she walked down the aisle to Ryan, their ceremony so personal with readings from her grandad and Arlo sneaking into shot in the vows and the signing of the register!
Once the ceremony had finished, they were showered with confetti and Arlo had a good time throwing the confetti and getting amongst it too! We did a few family photos, and then went for some couple shots around the venue. The sunshine was beaming and the rapeseed had flowered making a beautiful dreamy location for some photos. We also really loved the images of them in the woods close by to Swallows Nest. The decoration and florals that Laura and Ryan had in the barn were so gorgeous and reflected the relaxed and rustic barn vibe they were hoping for.
After the speeches and drinks were poured, these guys had arranged with the caterers Lemon-Zest to do a carving dinner. This means one person from each table is nominated to carve the meat for the rest of the table. It makes for really funny photos with wedding guests having aprons and chef hats on. We obviously had to get some photos of that!
In the evening, the sky turned from a pale blue to a vivid orange and pink, so we quickly took the opportunity to do a few more photos of them both in the fields. Swallows Nest Barn has so many great locations for bride and groom photos that we were spoilt for choice. The fields aren’t far away for a quick dash to catch the light though! We also played around with the hay bales on the field and managed to get Laura up onto one! After a few more photos, Laura and Ryan had some time with guests again before their first dance. We love shooting dance floor photos and everyone throwing some shapes! Even grandad was on the dance floor and we loved the moment him and Laura had a boogie together.
We can’t wait to get back to shooting weddings again. We really miss it. The memories from weddings like Laura & Ryan’s makes us remember how important our job is, to capture moments on a wedding day no matter how big or small they are. We love our job (if we can call it that!) and we can’t wait for our first wedding to return.
